Christmas Poem 2008

Dashing thru the year
In a beat up Mini-Van
You called, we're never here
The elusive Paulson Clan

Basketbal and Church
Soccer, Work and School
What fun to run from place to place
Thank God they lowered fuel

Paulson Boys, Paulson Boys
Paulsons all the way
Oh what fun to have three sons
Who laugh and play all day?

Paulson Crew, Paulson Crew,
Jeff and Luke and Brett
You'll rarely see a cooler three
On that be sure to bet

Brett is almost ten
Cool guy extraordinaire
He leads at school, In 'Ball he rules
It's almost less than fair

Lukie's lost three teeth
How's he already five?
Music and Art--He's oh so smart
The sweetest boy alive

Paulson Boys, Paulson Boys
Paulsons all the way
Oh what fun to have three sons
Who laugh and play all day

Paulson Crew, Paulson Crew
Jeff and Luke and Brett
You'll rarely see a cooler three
On that be sure to bet

Jeffy poked his eye
His scooter handlebars
Doc fixed it quick with the twelth stitch
Now Jeff says "Chicks dig scars"

Bri fixed up our home
Painted siding, doors and trim
Deck, fence, and gate, the place looks great
Now he can't move a limb

Oh, Paulson Fam, Paulson Fam
It's tough to keep our pace
We just try to stay alive
With smiles on our face

Paulson Clan, Paulson Clan
Wishing you good cheer
And may you find 2009
To be your finest year!

Jeffy Singing his Favorite Song

I don't know whether to laugh or cry, but Jeffy knows all the words to the Walker Texas Ranger theme song. Enjoy!

The House is DONE!!!

Have you ever seen that Skittles commercial where the rainbow pours color into everything it touches??? Well that's exactly what happened to our house (along with about 300 hours of work and lots of prayer that we wouldn't need an orthopedic surgeon).

Tell us what you think!

April Trip to Florida

Ok, so I'm a little out of order, but you'll get the drift. I wanted to add

a few pics from our trip down to Orlando that we took in April.

We stayed at the Liki-Tiki Village just west of DisneyWorld,

and we had a blast. Our hotel had a water park,

paddle boats, bumper boats, mini-golf, tennis, shuffleboard, a
beach, and basketball. Of course we invited Grandma and Poppy

to stay with us and we enjoyed our days taking advantage

of the hotel grounds. We didn't do a lot of sight-seeing,

as we've been to Orlando a hundred times, so by some

miraculous stroke of luck, Disney got a very small

portion of our cash. Wild, huh?

After flying 3,000 miles, spending $27,000

eating out, paying $4.94/gallon for gas, and

settling up on the pool bar tab, here was

the response to the question, "What was

your favorite part of the trip?"

Brett: "playing basketball"

Luke: "eating popsicles"

Jeff: "sleeping on the couch when it's a bed"

Hmmm.... These are all things we could have done at 11005 North Central Street. Oh well. It was totally worth it!

Erika and Mike's Wedding

Memorial Day Weekend was spent on the beautiful plains of Kansas celebrating Erika and Mike's wedding. It turned out to be a gorgeous day for an outdoor wedding in spite of an ominous forecast of rain, hail, lightning, and tornadoes. The weather gods were watching over Winchester!

Of course, Erika and the girls looked great, and the wedding was
held in their new backyard, landscaped with white benches
(handmade by Mike) and little solar orb lights scattered
all over the property. The effect was really magical.
The most amazing part of the day was that all three
of the boys wore shirts without a Disney character plastered on
the front, and we only had one
"drop-your-pants-and-pee-in-front-of-everyone"
moment by Jeff. Not bad for having spent 9 hours there!

The reception was held there too, and we all dressed in
our normal clothes for that. Here are pics of Rik and I
in our girly clothes (can it get any girlier than a wedding
dress?) and our normal fashionable attire. This was late in
evening when we broke out the good music and the old
Bon Jovi concert t-shirts from the 80's! Woo Hoo!

Quarterly Check-in

Wow. I'm really not very good about this. Another three months have passed and absolutely nothing posted. OK, THIS time I'm going to do better. I'm going to cheat though. I'm going to make several blog entries today. This will trick me into thinking that I'm actually keeping up.

And blogging is a beautiful thing. You can almost treat it like a diary, highlighting your life as you go along. This will be a good way for me to look back over time and see what in the world I've been doing with my time. Hmm, good thought.

Woopsie Daisies

OK, so I'd forgotten I even made a blog. I had to be reminded by Kelli. It's funny--I read hers all the time, and it never dawned on me that I should update mine. Oh well. Fast forward two months.

We've got a couple of big birthdays coming up this week. Brett will be nine, and Luke will be five. We are having a small combo party at home on Friday evening with pizza and cake. Nothing too crazy. Brett's going to play hookie on Thursday and go to the college basketball tournament with Brian. And we're planning a week-long vacation in April to Orlando. So we didn't think it was necessary to have a big blow-out of a party too. Besides, the kids don't know it but they are getting a PS2. This should sufficiently sequester them to Brett's room for a good 3 months.

Jeffy has decided to have his birthday too. It's not fair that everyone else gets to have one. So he said, "Mom, can I be 4?" Being the stern, practical, truth telling mother that I am, I responded, "Sure buddy!" Ah well. You can't win 'em all.
