If you didn't know any better, you would think that we are the fitness family from hell. My last post was about the Disney Marathon, and now I'm writing to brag about Brett's first triathlon. As I'm sure you would suspect, he finished with flying colors.
And being the endurance guru that I am, I trained him myself at no charge. For the swim, we practiced putting the goggles on the night before the race in the bathtub to make sure they didn't leak. For the bike, we got him a new tire since his bike had a flat, and we didn't need to train for the run, since the little booger can run a mile in 7:12 minutes--over a minute faster than me on my finest day!
So onward to the race. We were ready!
100 yard swim
1.5 mile bike
.5 mile run
And here we have our champion with a couple of his Nashua friends!
Don't they look patriotic? That was totally unplanned.
Brett finished the entire race in 22 minutes and 14 seconds!
And we figured out after the race that his back brake was broken and he was riding the brake for the entire bike portion of the race. Bummer. All that training, and then something technical goes wrong on race day. Oh well, we'll have to hire a professional team of mechanics next time. I think we're ready for the Ironman!
